Mediterranean Revival architecture flourished in California and Florida in the early 20th century, blending the aesthetic traditions of Spanish Colonial architecture with a bright, open, and nature-inspired design. Drawing on this architectural language, Mapleton Motel creates the ambiance of a Southern European estate through warm tones, open driveways, and lush gardens, where sunlight and nature come together in harmony.
More Than a Place to Stay: Reborn After the Earthquake
The story of Mapleton Motel began with the reconstruction and tourism revitalization of Taichung’s mountain-line region following the devastating 1999 Jiji Earthquake. The magnitude of the earthquake caused widespread destruction across central Taiwan. In the years that followed, the government launched reconstruction initiatives and encouraged investment in the hospitality industry in an effort to stimulate local tourism and economic recovery. Mapleton’s development project in Fengyuan, Taichung, benefited at the time from a preferential interest-rate subsidy provided by the Tourism Bureau, and was designed and constructed in accordance with newly revised post-earthquake seismic building codes. Enhanced earthquake resistance and disaster preparedness were incorporated into the project from the beginning, making safety and peace of mind fundamental to the founding of Mapleton Motel.

Independent AC & Energy-Efficient Hot Water
Every guest room at Mapleton Motel is equipped with individually controlled inverter heating and air conditioning, allowing guests to freely adjust the temperature and switch the system on or off according to their preferences, without being affected by other rooms. Individual control also allows the system to be used flexibly according to occupancy, helping reduce unnecessary energy consumption. Hot water is primarily supplied by an energy-efficient heat pump system, with a natural gas boiler providing additional support when needed. By using highly efficient heat conversion technology, the system helps reduce energy consumption while maintaining a stable and reliable hot water supply.
Connected to the Water Resource Recycling Center
In support of the government’s environmental initiatives, Mapleton Motel has completed the connection of its entire property to the public sewer system. Wastewater from guest bathrooms and washing facilities is conveyed through dedicated sewage pipelines to the Fengyuan Water Resource Recycling Center for treatment. After purification and filtration, the water is converted into reclaimed water and returned to the water cycle for reuse. Starting with a single motel, we strive to value every drop of water and embrace a more sustainable approach to hospitality.
