To safeguard the well-being of our guests and maintain a safe and secure accommodation environment, Mapleton Motel voluntarily supports the government’s drug prevention awareness efforts and encourages all guests to reject illegal drugs and avoid drug-related harm. Narcotics can seriously endanger physical and mental health and may also contribute to public safety risks, social problems, and family difficulties. Mapleton places the highest importance on guest safety and accommodation standards. In addressing suspected or confirmed illegal narcotics use or possession on the premises, Mapleton Motel will act in accordance with applicable laws and regulations and the requirements of the competent authorities.

Drug Prevention Information: Lodging Operators’ Duties to Act and Report

Hotel operators, tourist hotel operators, and homestay operators all have statutory duties to act or report when they become aware of guest use of illegal drugs. These duties do not depend on whether the premises qualify as a “specific place of business.” Under Article 27 of the Regulations for the Administration of Hotel Enterprises, hotel operators who become aware of a guest using illegal drugs must immediately report the matter to the local police or take necessary action. Under Article 24 of the Regulations for Administration of Tourist Hotel Enterprises, tourist hotel operators who become aware of a guest using illegal drugs or other narcotics must immediately take necessary action or report the matter to the local police. Under Article 32 of the Regulations for the Management of Home Stay Facilities, homestay operators who discover a guest using addictive drugs or other narcotics must immediately report the matter to the police station with jurisdiction.

In addition, premises that meet the definition of a “specific place of business” under the applicable drug prevention regulations must carry out the following measures under Article 31-1 of the Narcotics Hazard Prevention Act. These requirements do not replace the existing duties of lodging operators described above:

  1. Entrance Signage: Display narcotics prevention information prominently at the entrance, including the statement that persons in possession of narcotics are prohibited from entering.

  2. Employee Training: Designate the prescribed proportion of employees to participate in narcotics hazard prevention training.

  3. Personnel Records: Maintain a register of the person in charge and employees, in accordance with applicable regulations.

  4. Police Notification: Immediately notify the police upon learning of or discovering suspected narcotics use or possession on the premises.
