Fraud Prevention Notice | Mapleton Will Never Ask for Your Login Details or Request a Bank Transfer
Publication Date: September 3, 2026
Last Updated: September 3, 2026

Dear Guest,
Scam tactics are becoming increasingly sophisticated. Scammers may impersonate hotels, booking platforms, or customer service representatives and contact guests by phone, text message, LINE, email, or other communication channels. They may claim that there is a problem with your reservation, a failed payment, a duplicate booking, an incorrectly activated installment plan, or a need to cancel your reservation. Their goal is to trick you into disclosing personal information, credit card details, or verification codes, or to persuade you to use an ATM, access online banking, or transfer money.
To help protect your stay and the security of your transactions, Mapleton Motel is taking a proactive approach in support of the government’s anti-fraud initiatives. Please be aware that Mapleton Motel will never contact you by phone, text message, LINE, or email to ask you to:
Provide your full credit card number, expiration date, security code (CVV/CVC), or online banking password.
Disclose one-time passwords (OTPs) sent by text message or any other financial transaction verification codes.
Use an ATM, access online banking, or transfer money due to a claimed booking error, duplicate charge, reservation cancellation, or system malfunction.
Click on suspicious or unverified links to make payments, receive refunds, or verify your account.
Download unfamiliar apps or grant remote access to your phone or computer for any reason.
If you receive a suspicious phone call, text message, or message through a communication app from someone claiming to represent a hotel or booking platform, stop immediately. Do not share any personal or financial information, transfer money, or access online banking at their direction.
Remember: Listen, Hang Up, Verify
1. Listen: Be alert if someone claims there is a problem with your reservation, promises a refund, or asks you to carry out banking transactions.
2. Hang Up: If you cannot verify the caller’s identity, end the call immediately or stop responding to the message.
3. Verify: Contact the hotel or booking platform independently through its official contact channels to confirm the information. If necessary, call Taiwan’s 165 Anti-Fraud Hotline for assistance.
