2026 Taiwan Domestic Travel Subsidies | Weekday Hotel Stays & Birthday Voucher Offers

The 2026 Taiwan domestic travel subsidy program has officially launched! This year, the Tourism Administration, Ministry of Transportation and Communications has introduced the “Dual-Engine Tourism Promotion Program,” which includes the Weekday Accommodation Incentive and Birthday Accommodation Voucher. Registration for both programs is now open, encouraging travelers to avoid weekends and public holidays and enjoy a more relaxing weekday getaway. If you are planning a trip to Fengyuan, Taichung for sightseeing, visiting family, a business trip, or a three-day, two-night getaway, this is a great opportunity to take advantage of Taiwan’s domestic travel incentives. By staying at an eligible participating accommodation, you may receive a deduction from your accommodation expenses.

Below, Mapleton Motel has put together a simple guide to the two major benefits — the Weekday Accommodation Incentive and the Birthday Accommodation Voucher — including how to register, how to use them, and what exclusive benefits you can enjoy when staying at Mapleton Motel.

1. Weekday Accommodation Incentive: Save Up to NT$2,000 for Two Consecutive Nights

The Weekday Accommodation Incentive is available from September 1 through November 30, 2026. Eligible travelers who stay at participating licensed accommodations from Sunday through Thursday can receive an accommodation subsidy in accordance with the program rules. The incentive does not apply on national holidays or consecutive holiday periods.

For accommodations in general areas of Taiwan’s main island, the subsidy is:

• First night: Up to NT$800 off

• Second night: Up to NT$1,200 off

• Two consecutive nights: Up to NT$2,000 off in total

Therefore, if you want to maximize the value of this domestic travel incentive, a two-night weekday stay is an excellent option. You may stay at the same hotel for both nights or stay at different participating accommodations in different cities, provided that the two nights are consecutive. If you do not continue to use the subsidy for the second night, the second-night subsidy will be considered forfeited.

Please note that completing the online registration in advance only creates your personal registration record. It does not mean that the accommodation subsidy has already been automatically granted. At check-in, the eligible traveler must present a National ID card or National Health Insurance card so that the accommodation provider can verify the traveler’s identity and confirm that the registered person is the actual guest staying at the property. Only after verification can the subsidy be applied according to the program rules.

How to Use the Weekday Accommodation Incentive

The process is simple: First, complete the Weekday Accommodation Incentive registration through the Tourism Administration’s official domestic travel subsidy website during the registration period. Next, make a reservation at a participating licensed accommodation and inform the property in advance that you intend to use the domestic travel subsidy. When you check in on an eligible weekday between September 1 and November 30, 2026, present your National ID card or National Health Insurance card for identity verification. The accommodation provider can then apply the subsidy to your room charge in accordance with the program rules.

2. Birthday Accommodation Voucher: 1,000 Winners Selected Each Month

In addition to the Weekday Accommodation Incentive, the 2026 domestic travel promotion also includes a Birthday Accommodation Voucher lottery. The Birthday Voucher program runs from September 10 through December 31, 2026. After eligible travelers complete the required registration, 1,000 lucky winners will be selected each month, and each winner will receive an additional NT$1,200 accommodation voucher.

The Birthday Voucher does not have to be used on the traveler’s actual birthday. Once selected, the voucher may be used for an eligible weekday stay during the program period.

The registration deadline is especially important. Eligible travelers must complete registration on the official program website by 5:00 p.m. on September 8, 2026. The Tourism Administration is scheduled to open the winner-status lookup system from 11:00 a.m. on September 9, 2026. Winners may then use their NT$1,200 Birthday Accommodation Voucher for eligible weekday stays between September 10 and December 31, 2026.

3. Can the Weekday Incentive and Birthday Voucher Be Used Together?

Yes. This is one of the key benefits of the 2026 domestic travel promotion. The Tourism Administration explicitly states that the Weekday Accommodation Incentive and Birthday Accommodation Voucher may be combined. This means that if you qualify for both benefits, you may use the Weekday Accommodation Incentive together with your Birthday Accommodation Voucher when staying on an eligible weekday, subject to the program rules.

However, each room may use the Weekday Accommodation Incentive only once and the Birthday Voucher only once per night, and the travelers receiving the benefits must actually stay at the accommodation. For example, if two travelers share one room and both are individually eligible for the Weekday Accommodation Incentive and Birthday Voucher, the same room on the same night can still receive only one Weekday Accommodation Incentive and one Birthday Voucher.

Please also note that if the room rate is lower than the subsidy amount, the discount is limited to the actual accommodation charge. No cash refund or reimbursement will be provided for any unused difference.

Important 2026 Domestic Travel Subsidy Dates

• Weekday Accommodation Incentive registration: From August 20, 2026 through November 30, 2026, or until the program budget is exhausted, whichever comes first.

• Weekday Accommodation Incentive usage period: September 1 through November 30, 2026.

• Birthday Voucher registration deadline: September 8, 2026, at 5:00 p.m.

• Birthday Voucher winner lookup: From September 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.

• Birthday Voucher usage period: September 10 through December 31, 2026, for eligible weekday stays only.
